Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

If Avon was riding high fresh off their 65-31 takedown of Midview last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Avon Eagles came up short against the Highland Hornets on Tuesday, falling 64-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Hornets are ranked 87th).

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Highland, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

Coming up, Avon will challenge Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Steele's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 19 matchups. As for Highland, they will face off against Barberton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
