Basketball Recap: Marquette Catholic Takes a Loss

Marquette Catholic was the 61-51 winner over Freeburg when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Marquette Catholic Explorers fell 52-39 to the Freeburg Midgets on Friday.

Jase Brentlinger had a dynamite game for Freeburg, going 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Brentlinger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Fritz, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points.

Marquette Catholic now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Freeburg, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Nelson County the next time they take the court. Freeburg will host Nelson County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Marquette Catholic will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
