Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Rootstown

The Rootstown Rovers lost 3-0 to the Kirtland Hornets on Thursday. The Rovers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Rootstown had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

Kirtland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bria Golem out in front who had 23 digs and three aces. The team also got some help from Ellie Spencer, who had 14 kills, 14 digs, and three aces.

Rootstown's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Kirtland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, dating back to last year. That gives them an 8-0 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rootstown will challenge their in-conference opponent Wickliffe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kirtland is set to face off against their familiar foe Chagrin Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
