Football Game Preview: Leake Central Gators vs. West Lauderdale Knights + Official Tickets

Leake Central hasn't had much luck against West Lauderdale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gators will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Leake Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully West Lauderdale likes a good challenge.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Leake Central beat Scott Central 31-25.

Leake Central found their leader in sophomore Zyaier Gilbert, who made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss). Israel Ross did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, West Lauderdale started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Newton County. They took a 22-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Friday. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 6-0 in the first quarter.

Leake Central pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 39.3 points this season. As for West Lauderdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
