Baseball Game Preview: Tate Aggies vs. Pace Patriots

Tate hasn't had much luck against Pace recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Aggies will face off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Tate has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Tate's win against Booker T. Washington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Aggies skirted past the Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aggies have posted against the Wildcats since May 2, 2022.

Bryton McLellan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Tate's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Connors, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Pace never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Crestview on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Pace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Tate, their record is now 14-5.

Tate might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Pace in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Aggies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
