Baseball Recap: Nooksack Valley Wins Going Away Against Squalicum

Nooksack Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Squalicum on Friday. The Pioneers blew past the Storm 12-2. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Blake, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Martin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Nooksack Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Nooksack Valley's record now sits at 6-14. As for Squalicum, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

Nooksack Valley will take on South Whidbey at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Squalicum does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
