Softball Recap: Romeoville Spartans vs. Joliet West Tigers

Romeoville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-15. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Joliet West Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in April.

As for Joliet West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Joliet West's part, Gabriela Juarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Juarez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mallory Crisafulli and Caitlin Jadron did most of the damage at the plate: Crisafulli went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Jadron went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Jadron a new career-high.
