Basketball Recap: Dixie Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Bountiful

On Saturday, Dixie faced Bountiful in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Dixie Flyers fell 61-52 to the Bountiful RedHawks. The matchup marked the Flyers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dixie lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyler Walter, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Walter has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jay Jay Davey, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Emerson Geilman had an outrageously good game for Bountiful as he went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Geilman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Heath, who had 11 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dixie fell to 5-1. As for Bountiful, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Dixie will square off against Westlake at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday. Dixie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season. As for Bountiful, they will host Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
