Softball Game Preview: Lafayette Lions vs. Carencro Bears

Lafayette is a perfect 10-0 against Carencro since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lafayette Lions will challenge the Carencro Bears at 4:00 p.m. Lafayette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Lafayette fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Southside on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sharks. The Lions have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Caroline Terro was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Morgan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Carencro fell victim to Sulphur and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to the Golden Tors. The Bears' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Carencro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.

Everything went Lafayette's way against Carencro in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Lafayette made off with an 11-0 win. Does Lafayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carencro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
