Soccer Game Preview: Chugiak vs. Colony

The Chugiak Mustangs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Colony Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Colony will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Chugiak extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. Everything went the Mustangs' way against Eagle River as they made off with a 10-1 victory. It was an even better day for Arrianna Lubeck as she scored three goals for her team.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Colony and Soldotna, and Colony kept the tradition alive. The Knights never let the Stars get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Friday. Colony might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Chugiak pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those three contests. As for Colony, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Chugiak suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Colony when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
