Nettleton snaps 12-game streak of wins at home

Recap: Nettleton Raiders vs. Greene County Tech Golden Eagles

On Friday, the Nettleton Raiders faced the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Nettleton took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greene County Tech. It was the first time this season that Nettleton let down their fans at home.

Greene County Tech was led to victory by Weslyn Burnside and Ava Carter. Burnside scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Carter dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was Burnside's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Edrington, who scored 13 points.

Nettleton's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Greene County Tech, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-5-1.

Nettleton will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Nettleton is ranked seventh). As for Greene County Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Batesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Batesville and Greene County Tech are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
