Solorio hasn't had much luck against Jones recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sun Warriors will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Neither Solorio nor Jones posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Things were looking good for Solorio after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Simeon, falling 14-2. The Sun Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Solorio saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Saucedo, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jones was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Von Steuben.
Jack Condne was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Condne was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Solorio's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Jones, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Solorio has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jones struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
