Basketball Game Preview: Air Academy Kadets vs. Fruita Monument Wildcats

Having just played yesterday, the Air Academy Kadets will head out on the road to face off against the Fruita Monument Wildcats at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Air Academy comes in on seven and Fruita Monument on four.

Air Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Delta on Friday. Air Academy blew past Delta, posting a 72-27 victory. The Kadets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Tatyonna Brown and Lydia Flowers were among the main playmakers for Air Academy as the former went 12 for 13 on her way to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals and the latter went 9 of 20 on her way to 21 points along with eight boards and five assists. With that strong performance, Flowers is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Asp, who posted ten points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Air Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fruita Monument strolled past Palmer Ridge with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-41.

Fruita Monument's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Air Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
