Lordsburg was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Navajo Pine on Thursday. The Lordsburg Mavericks were the clear victor by a 29-4 margin over the Navajo Pine Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Anthony Retana made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Retana was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Valarde, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with seven RBI, three runs, and one triple. Jeremy Jacquez was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

The victory got Lordsburg back to even at 1-1. As for Navajo Pine, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
