Baseball Recap: Morenci Triumphs

After losing to Pima the last time they met, Morenci decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Morenci Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Pima Roughriders on Tuesday.

Shane Seballos was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Christopher Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases.

Morenci hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive games.

Morenci now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pima, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morenci is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against Santa Cruz Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pima, they will head out to take on Snowflake at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Snowflake's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Pima's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
