Baseball Preview: Hialeah Thoroughbreds vs. Southwest Eagles

The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will take on the Southwest Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Friday, Hialeah made easy work of North Miami Beach and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thoroughbreds.

Hialeah let Alexander Vargas and Yanzel Medina run wild. Vargas got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Medina went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaniel Tabares, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Southwest got the win against South Miami on Thursday by a conclusive 16-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Adrison Rodriguez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Max Rico was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Brandon Piedra was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Miami only posted an OBP of .375.

Hialeah has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Southwest, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
