Basketball Recap: Nariya Goddard Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wayne's strategy against Northmont on Saturday. The Wayne Warriors strolled past the Northmont Thunderbolts with points to spare, taking the game 61-42. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nariya Goddard, who posted 11 points along with six steals and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaya Lenoir, who had ten points and four steals.

Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Northmont, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne will head out to challenge Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northmont, they will head out on the road to take on Tecumseh at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
