Football Recap: Gosnell Pirates vs. Rivercrest Colts
Gosnell lost against Rivercrest back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Gosnell Pirates and the Rivercrest Colts wasn't particularly close, with the Gosnell Pirates falling 29-14. The Pirates have struggled against the Colts recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Cavonta Washington and his top target Jayden Young. Washington rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns while Young gained 114 total yards and a touchdown. Young got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 76 yards. Joe Louis Ralph was in the mix as well, providing Rivercrest with a touchdowns.
Gosnell's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gosnell will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rivercrest, they will host East Poinsett County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rivercrest will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
