Basketball Recap: Central Falcons vs. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles

A win for Central just wasn't in the cards on Saturday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 61-25 loss at the hands of the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.

Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michal Steward posted nine points along with eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur Heritage Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Genie Mcghee, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Mcghee has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Leslie Hames, who went 8 for 16 en route to 18 points.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Central has already played their next game, a 62-9 win against Greensboro on the 12th. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Cullman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
