Basketball Recap: South Fort Myers Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mariah Thorne and Ja'meria Church

South Fort Myers lost against Estero back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The South Fort Myers Wolfpack took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Estero Wildcats. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, South Fort Myers had strong showings from Ja'Meria Church, who posted 19 points, and Mariah Thorne, who scored 20 points. That was a full 42.6% of South Fort Myers' points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Amiya Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Estero, going 8 for 19 en route to 25 points and eight boards. The match was Lewis' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was London Woods, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

South Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Estero, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

South Fort Myers wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-19 defeat against Aubrey Rogers on the 21st. Estero has also already played their next matchup, a 54-51 loss against North Fort Myers on the 21st.
