Basketball Game Preview: McFarland Spartans vs. Stoughton Vikings

McFarland hasn't had much luck against Stoughton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The McFarland Spartans will square off against the Stoughton Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, McFarland didn't have too much trouble with Monroe as they won 84-65. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.

Meanwhile, Stoughton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 63-61 victory over the Lightning.

Stoughton pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for McFarland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

McFarland was taken down by Stoughton 71-42 in their previous meeting back in February. Can McFarland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
