Baseball Recap: Carson Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

While Carson's win against Venice wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Colts skirted past the Gondoliers 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Patrick Volaski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Markel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Xavier Allen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Carson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Carson's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Venice, their record now sits at 1-1.

Carson will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North at 3:00 p.m. on March 9. As for Venice, they are taking a road trip to square off against South at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
