Baseball Recap: Chugiak Has No Trouble Against West Anchorage

Chugiak's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the West Anchorage Eagles. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Luke Salle looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Cole Lux was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season. Sampson Young was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

Chugiak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Chugiak's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record. As for West Anchorage, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
