            Basketball Recap: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Highland Huskies        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Platte Valley  last Friday, Brush came back down to earth. The Brush Beetdiggers took  a  60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Huskies on Tuesday. The Beetdiggers were not able to make up for their  defeat to the Huskies from their previous meeting  back in January of 2024.

Several Beetdiggers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Jocelynn Middlemist, who  posted eight points and 12  boards. Middlemist has been hot recently, having  posted ten or more  rebounds the last three times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Brisa Aguirre-Garcia, who  scored seven  points and five  boards.
 Even though they lost, Brush  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 11  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in 29 consecutive  games  dating back to last season.
 Highland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Briza Flores, who  had 18 points along with seven  assists and six  rebounds.  Vivianne Chase was another key player,  dropping  a double-double with 11  points and 16  boards.
Brush's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Highland, their win was  their seventh straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 14-6.
 Brush didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  match,  a  51-32  defeat against Resurrection Christian on the 21st. As for Highland, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  contest,  a  58-49  victory against Strasburg on the 21st.
