Basketball Recap: Juarez Falls Despite Big Games from Martha Patino and Emily Flores

After a string of four wins, Juarez's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 46-30 to the Victoria Soto Wolves. The Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 46-43 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Juarez's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emily Flores, who posted eight points, and Martha Patino, who earned seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosa Patino, who put up five points.

Juarez's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Victoria Soto, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Juarez and Victoria Soto's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Juarez and Morgan Park Academy (who has only given up 20.75 points per game) will meet at 1:00 p.m. on December 26th. Juarez's defense has only allowed 23.9 points per game this season, so Victoria Soto's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Victoria Soto and Kennedy (who has only given up 27.33 points per game) will meet at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
