Baseball Recap: Cresskill Takes a Loss

Waldwick hit Cresskill with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell 9-5 to the Warriors. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 9-0.

Tyler Manarang made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Cresskill's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Orri Shapira, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Cresskill's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9-1. As for Waldwick, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-13.

Coming up, Cresskill will square off against New Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waldwick, they will head out on the road to square off against Tenafly at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
