Basketball Recap: School of the Ozarks Comes Up Short

School of the Ozarks was the 64-43 winner over Galena when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The School of the Ozarks Patriots took a hard 72-53 fall against the Galena Bears on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Bears are ranked 170th).

When it comes to explaining why School of the Ozarks lost, don't look at Josiah Martin. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 12 en route to 22 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Scott Carswell, who posted ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, School of the Ozarks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

School of the Ozarks dropped their record down to 3-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Galena, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.

School of the Ozarks will host Bradleyville at 7:45 p.m. on January 30th. School of the Ozarks is facing Bradleyville at the right time seeing as Bradleyville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Galena has already played their next match, a 78-33 win against Exeter on the 27th.
