While Normal University's win against Bloomington Central Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pioneers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Saints 4-2. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Saints on Thursday, too.

Makenzie Post spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmerson Steward, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Meera Sundaram was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Normal University hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matches.

Normal University's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they dropped their record down to 14-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Normal University will host Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will welcome Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
