Avon put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pavilion Golden Gophers a 9-0 shutout. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jessie Crye was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Rice, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Violet Philips also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Avon's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Pavilion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Avon will square off against Dansville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pavilion, they will face off against Alexander at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Golden Gophers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
