Basketball Game Preview: NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks vs. Providence Classical Paladins

The NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Providence Classical Paladins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, NorthPoint Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 77-72 to Arborbrook Christian Academy. The NightHawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

NorthPoint Christian Academy might have lost, but man, Gabe Spann was a machine: he went 13-for-15 to rack up 46 points and five assists. Braxton Goodman was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Providence Classical put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake Pointe Academy 75-33. With the Paladins ahead 43-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Providence Classical found their leader in sophomore Grafton Eiff, who shot 80% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Eiff has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Providence Classical was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

NorthPoint Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Providence Classical, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Everything came up roses for NorthPoint Christian Academy against Providence Classical in their previous matchup back in February, as the team secured a 70-37 win. In that contest, the NightHawks amassed a halftime lead of 41-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
