Basketball Game Preview: Exeter Monarchs vs. Lindsay Cardinals

Exeter is 2-8 against Lindsay since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Exeter Monarchs will take on the Lindsay Cardinals in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. at. Exeter will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Exeter didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Orosi on Tuesday, sneaking past 48-46. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cardinals are ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Exeter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aden Plyman out in front who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaine Mcfall, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lindsay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 71-38 loss at the hands of Highland.

Exeter pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Lindsay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Exeter's way against Lindsay in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Exeter made off with a 60-37 win. Does Exeter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lindsay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
