Fairmont came out on top against Miamisburg  on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Firebirds were the clear victors by  a  12-5 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won six games by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
The team  relied heavily on  Carlee Netherton, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double. Those  three  RBI gave  her a new career-high.  Sophia Barnette was another key player,  going 1-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Fairmont was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miamisburg only posted a  batting average of  .276.
Fairmont has  been performing  well recently as they've  won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Miamisburg,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 10-10.
 Coming up, Fairmont will head out to  square off against Talawanda  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Miamisburg, they will be playing at home against Northmont  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
