Baseball Recap: Riverside Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Riverside Christian had lost seven games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-10 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Pomeroy Pirates 15-8. Considering the Crusaders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kameron St. George looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryce Carney was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Riverside Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-10 otherwise. Winter Bruntjen was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Riverside Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

As for Pomeroy, they now have a losing record of 10-11. They haven't had much luck with Riverside Christian recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

On Pomeroy's side, Jett Slusser put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Slusser was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Treyton Kimble made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Boone Schmidt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
