Softball Recap: Centralia Starts Season with Win Against Wabaunsee

Centralia took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Wabaunsee Chargers.

Centralia let Tessa Parthemer and Malayna Becker run wild. Parthemer scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Becker scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Becker a new career-high. Josie Haverkamp was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Centralia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wabaunsee only posted an OBP of .389.

Wabaunsee dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centralia beat the Chargers by a score of 11-1 later that day.
