Softball Recap: Grants Pass Triumphs

Grants Pass had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Sheldon Irish 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Cavemen: when they faced off against the Irish on Friday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

As for Sheldon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 1st, but that streak is no more.

For Sheldon's part, Soraya Dorsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Dorsey has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aspen Womack was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Lillian Geddis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Grants Pass will take on rival South Eugene at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sheldon is set to face off against their familiar foe Willamette at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
