Sandy Creek and Troup County are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Patriots will square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after nine games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
Sandy Creek is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Mary Persons: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Patriots blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 44-0 final score. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Amari Latimer, who rushed for 196 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per carry. Latimer is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hill, who threw for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sandy Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Troup County duked it out with Spalding on Thursday. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Jaguars 48-14. The Tigers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 20+ points this season.
Sandy Creek better focus on containing Javarris Warner and Garrison Edwards as the pair were huge in Troup County's win. Warner rushed for 186 yards and one score while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, while Edwards rushed for 81 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Those 186 rushing yards gave Warner a new career-high. Blaize Bell was in the mix too, providing Troup County with two touchdowns.
Troup County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Davis and KJ McQueen. Another thorn in Spalding's side was Skylen Straughn, who picked up two sacks, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Sandy Creek's record is now 9-0. As for Troup County, their record now sits at an identical 9-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sandy Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Troup County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 271.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Sandy Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Troup County in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 55-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
