Baseball Recap: Archbishop Shaw Takes a Loss

Archbishop Shaw came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Zachary Broncos, falling 13-3. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Archbishop Shaw saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Baiamonte, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Baiamonte a new career-high in hits (three).

Even though they lost, Archbishop Shaw hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Archbishop Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Zachary, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6-1 record this season.

Archbishop Shaw will face off against St. Amant at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Zachary, they will challenge Denham Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Zachary's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Denham Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
