Softball Game Preview: Casa Grande Gauchos vs. American Canyon Wolves

The Casa Grande Gauchos will head out on the road to face off against the American Canyon Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Casa Grande has three straight wins, American Canyon has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Casa Grande is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Napa 18-2 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Lucy Da Roza was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Lauren Ketchu was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Casa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, American Canyon lost 11-3 to Northgate on Wednesday.

Casa Grande pushed their record up to 13-5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for American Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Casa Grande beat American Canyon 5-0 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gauchos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
