Softball Preview: Biloxi Indians vs. Harrison Central Red Rebels

Biloxi hasn't had much luck against Harrison Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Indians will welcome the Red Rebels at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Biloxi needed a bit of extra time to put away St. Martin. They beat the Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-4. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Kya Gammons spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

Not much got past Gabrielle Smith, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep D'Iberville off the board. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Harrison Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kassidy Paris, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Harrison Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Biloxi, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.
