Football Recap: Amplus Academy Comes Up Short

Amplus Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 41-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Rancho Rams by a score of 22-20 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Archers have suffered since February 5, 2024.

Rancho found their leader in sophomore Alexandria Fernandez, who rushed for 177 yards while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Those 177 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Fernandez.

Amplus Academy dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Rancho, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amplus Academy will face off against Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rancho, they will square off against Arbor View at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
