Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Charles). They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Valley Lutheran Chargers on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

St. Charles let Julia Blankenship and Allison Zelinko run wild. Blankenship got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Zelinko went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Rylee Cornford also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

St. Charles' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Valley Lutheran, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, St. Charles will venture away from home to square off against Breckenridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valley Lutheran, they will square off against Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
