Basketball Recap: Founders Classical Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Founders Classical Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Laughlin Cougars on Wednesday, falling 52-6. The Centurions haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Elle Doud was Founders Classical Academy's leading scorer, having posted four points.

Laughlin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Valeria Quintero, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amora Thomas, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Founders Classical Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Waterford on January 2, 2026. As for Laughlin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-24 win against Sandy Valley on the 5th.
