Softball Recap: Lake Park Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lake Park owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the St. Charles East Fighting Saints. The victory was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won four matches in a row.

The result came thanks to Gianna Furlano's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ariana O'Connell was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gaetana Calo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Lake Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Charles East, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-13 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Park will host Buffalo Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Charles East, they will take on St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
