Softball Game Preview: Foran Lions vs. Lyman Hall Trojans

Foran is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Lyman Hall is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Trojans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Foran 1, Lyman Hall 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lyman Hall's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Foran hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Lions never let Branford get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Lions have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Abigail Corris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, Ariella Diorio was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Maddie Deldin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Foran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Lyman Hall suffered their closest loss since April 10th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hand by a score of 7-5. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Foran's win bumped their record up to 20-0. As for Lyman Hall, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Foran skirted past Lyman Hall 2-1 in their previous meeting on May 2nd. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
