Basketball Game Preview: Dollar Bay Bays vs. Wakefield Cardinals

Dollar Bay hasn't had much luck against Wakefield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dollar Bay Bays will challenge the Wakefield Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Dollar Bay was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-35 to Ontonagon.

Dollar Bay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kiera Isaacson, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 18 boards, and Laila Bell, who posted 12 points and four steals. Those 18 rebounds gave Isaacson a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Dollar Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on February 4th as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Baraga, falling 64-33. The game marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Dollar Bay's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Wakefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Dollar Bay suffered a grim 57-35 defeat to Wakefield when the teams last played back in January. Can Dollar Bay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
