Baseball Recap: Everglades' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Everglades made up a huge gap compared to their last game against McArthur, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Gators' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. For the Gators, this counts as revenge for the 15-7 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Julio Amoedo, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep McArthur off the board. Amoedo also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Everglades is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Gabriel Billini was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Everglades' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Marley John also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Everglades and bumps their season record up to 9-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for McArthur, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Coming up, Everglades will head out to square off against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McArthur, they will be playing at home against Canterbury at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
