Softball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Orono Spartans. If the Magic were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Spartans when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Orono, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Coming up, Monticello will take on Big Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orono has already played their next game (against Edison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
