Basketball Game Preview: Thurston Colts vs. Crater Comets

Thurston hasn't had much luck against Crater recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Colts will venture away from home to square off against the Comets at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Thurston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-34 to North Eugene.

Meanwhile, Crater entered their tilt with Ashland on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Grizzlies 81-10. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 217th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crater's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Thurston, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Thurston took a serious blow against Crater when the teams last played back in February of 2025, falling 68-25. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
