Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. Gulliver Prep Raiders

The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles will challenge the Gulliver Prep Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Calvary Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Gulliver Prep has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Last Saturday, Calvary Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Coral Springs Charter.

Despite their defeat, Calvary Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taryn Wakefield, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 37.8% of Calvary Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Kiersten Foster was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Gulliver Prep came up short against North Broward Prep on Friday and fell 54-43. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Eagles are ranked 131st).

Calvary Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Gulliver Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Calvary Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Gulliver Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 55-39. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gulliver Prep's Mikayla Brown, who had 24 points along with six assists and six boards.
