Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pleasant Plains

Pleasant Plains extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 11-4-1 in the process. They blew past the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers 12-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Pleasant Plains got a massive performance out of Aspen Kitowski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three stolen bases gave Kitowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexie Shimkus, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

Pleasant Plains was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Green, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Pleasant Plains wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 loss against Mt. Zion on the 30th. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they have also already played their next game, a 20-1 victory against Routt Catholic on the 30th.
